“We had such a difficult time with our first baby that we wanted to be as prepared as possible for the birth of our second. And wow! Our newborn experience from first to second baby are not even comparable. We are so grateful to Maite and her Newborn 101 guide. It was easy to read, easy to implement, and most importantly it really works!”

Neither. Newborns are fully reliant on their parents for emotional regulation until they are at least 4 months old.
At no point is your baby left to cry without a parent attending to them. What we focus on instead is shaping your baby’s understanding of how to fall asleep from the beginning.
Everything that a baby knows about sleep is learned. So through gentle and responsive parenting we can teach newborns how to be confident and independent sleepers. In conjunction with a solid sleep foundation including appropriate routines, wake windows, environment, and more, newborns can excel at sleep from an extremely young age.

Sleeping through the night (10-12 hours of uninterrupted sleep) is completely dependant on each unique baby, there is a huge range of what is considered normal.
This guide will help you meet your baby exactly where they are developmentally by keeping night feeds for nutrition purposes only. This makes the process of dropping feeds simple and intuitive, allowing you to take the guesswork out of when your baby is ready to sleep through the night, because they will let you know.

Both! It doesn’t matter how your baby is fed, you can apply everything in this guide to all healthy newborns. However, for questions relating to specific feeding concerns I recommend you reach out directly to your baby’s health care provider or a lactation consultant.
